Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, is the fictional character based on the Marvel comics and portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are fraternal twins who grew up orphaned in war-torn Sokovia. The siblings were experimented on by Hydra resulting in each of them gaining magical abilities. Pietro (aka Quicksilver) acquired super speed and Wanda’s energy manipulation and telekinesis became amplified. In ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, her first MCU appearance after the ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ post-credit scene, Wanda initially opposes the Avengers but later joins the team becoming one of their most powerful allies.
Following this film, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has made appearances in multiple other Marvel projects including ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and most recently starred in the miniseries ‘WandaVision’ for which she received much critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. Superman is the formidable alias of sensible, nerdy journalist Clark Kent. Superman was born on the alien planet Krypton and given the name Kal-El.
